Nick Gotts
Simulation modeller within the integrated land use systems group at MLURI. He trained in psychology and artificial intelligence. Until 1996, his research was mainly concerned with qualitative spatial representation and reasoning in humans, other animals, and computers. Since then he has concentrated on complex systems dynamics, particularly on agent-based social simulation, but also on cellular automata. He led the EU Framework 7 project GILDED (Governance, Infrastructure, Lifestyle Dynamics and Energy Demand: European Post-Carbon Communities), grant agreement no.: 225383, which developed agent-based models related to household carbon reduction behaviours. In this project, he works in Work Package 6, focusing on agent-based modelling, backcasting and development of robust and adaptive policies.
