Amparo Alonso Betanzos
Professor at the Department of Computer Science and coordinator of the Laboratory for Research and Development in Artificial Intelligence at the University of A Coruña. She is currently working on the development of Machine Learning algorithms, and on their applications to several fields, such as predictive maintenance on engineering or prediction of gene expression in bioinformatics. She has worked in the areas of feature selection, hybrid intelligent systems, intelligent multi-agent systems, and linear optimization methods and entropy based cost functions for neural networks and functional networks. Dr. Alonso-Betanzos completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia (USA), where she developed work on the area of expert systems for clinical applications. She is an Associate Editor on the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering. Also, she received the LÓreal-UNESCO award for Spain in 1998, for her work on expert systems for antenatal diagnosis, therapy and prognosis. At present, she is Senior IEEE member, ACM member, and member of the Executive Board of The Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence. |
